According to STATS SA more than 5 Million South Africans are living in poverty, which subsequently lead to extreme hunger. It further suggests that elderly people and children are the ones mostly affected by poverty and hunger.

Many elderly people in black South African townships and rural areas are left to raise children when parents go to urban areas searching for jobs, in the process elderly people are then left to feed children with social grants that are not enough to lead a healthy life.

SAPROMOs campaign in meant to address those challenges faced by children and elderly persons in South Africa and across the African continent. The party resolved in January 2019 to give staple food parcels to the elderly and families faced by extreme hunger and starvation. Up to so far SAPROMO has given over 200 staple food parcels with the help of individual members and other donors.

On the 18th May 2019 the party aims to give 100 10kg maize meal and other small parcels to the needy families in and around eMbalenhle township. SAPROMO will have the campaign in eMbalenhle sasol club where the donations will be handed to beneficiaries.

SAPROMO calls on community members to please donate to the party 10kg bags of maize meal and vegetable seeds. The seeds will also be given to the  beneficiaries of food parcels as the way to sustain our staple food Campaign. The party will send trained personnel to each beneficiary in order to help them make small gardens to grow vegetables, as a way to contribute to reduction of extreme hunger, starting in eMbalenhle and expanding gradually to other townships.

As we're getting closer to our prestigious staple food campaign event to be held in eMbalenhle SASOL CLUB in Mpumalanga province, South Africa. We would like to share some ideas in how each community member can contribute to food security in Africa.
Small gardens can be a great way for each individual to contribute to food security in the African continent. This type of farming does not need special expertise or complicated processes to start. Every one has a small piece of land either on the roof or at his or her  backyard to start farming. SAPROMO is willing to donate seed to anyone who is willing to start a small garden in eMbalenhle. The above mentioned township is where we willing to start and we will also include other townships and villages throughout Africa as we get more support and sponsorship for staple food Campaigns.
When you buy your groceries do not forget to buy a 10kg bag of maize meal to help us save a family from hunger and starvation. Maize meal has been main food for decades in most of South African households. Donating just a bag of maize meal can help us reach out to many families that sleep on empty stomach most of the time. To donate please send us a WhatsApp or call: +27826352792
According to statistics, South Africa imports close to 1 million metric tons of chicken every year. This costs the country more than 20 thousand jobs as billions of rands leave the country. If each individual in South Africa and across the continent can really mind what they are buying, we can save jobs and end hunger in Africa, as we automatically contribute to the continent food security.
